Gradekeeper's Expansion Plans

It has always been in Gradekeeper's design motif to expand to be a general-purpose, highly useful "university life organiser", which includes adding other features connected to the core idea of being a grade tracker.

Here is a list of proposed ideas, as well as any implementation details:

Features

• Course and grade tracker
  • Projected and actual grade progress
  • Component system, including dropping individual subcomponents
• Easy ability to share courses with other people
  • Course code system
  • Direct import link instead of copying a code
  • Select from a course database added by Gradekeeper staff
• Timetable system
  • Show today/tomorrow's classes, and their times
  • Connect classes to courses in Course and grade tracker
• Native mobile apps for Android and iOS
  • This would require a rewrite of the authentication system as NextAuth only works on Next apps.

Technical

• State rewrite
  • Rewritten to use Recoil instead of React context and extensive drilling
• Request system rewrite
  • Switch to something like SWR (how to integrate with Recoil..?) instead of using fetch APIs and the custom invalidator solution
  • Investigate sending initial state as Next.js server-side props
