VPP Event and TedAPI

Today is my first VPP event. I've been curious to watch the whole thing play out, and wanted to see how the system would behave. I was particularly interested in how what will happen will be communicated - if at all.

So far, I have found no Alert raised anywhere I can spot that makes it possible to note a VPP event is scheduled to take place. This follows suit with the same lack of information available for a Storm Watch event: somehow, the PW knows, somehow the app knows, but there are apparently no breadcrumbs left about where we can tell programmatically these are taking place.

Does someone know of some indicator visible in the tedapi that signifies a VPP event that maybe I'm not spotting right now?
