π³ Explain why it should be added
Xray is a macOS-only UI inspection tool β think browser DevTools, but for any element on your screen. Hover over any
UI element to see its role and dimensions in real time, and capture it to the clipboard with a single click. It runs
in the background via the system tray and is activated with a global shortcut (Cmd+Shift+X).
Built with Tauri (Rust + React/TypeScript), MIT-licensed, and actively maintained. It's a handy utility for Mac
designers and developers who frequently need to inspect or document native UI, and I think it would be a good fit for
the Applications β Developer (or Utilities) section of awesome-mac.
π Additional context
- Latest release: v1.1.0 (JanΒ 2026)
- Multi-language support: English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese
- Requires Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions
- 264+ stars on GitHub
