Is the Installion documentation complete?

I wanted to use this in a django project, but I'm a bit of a noob.

So I go to the installion page follow the steps as described, but there doesn't seem to be a signup/register route so how do you register?

I found how to monkey patch the 2fa login and adding a two_factor/_base.html template somewhere else

There are no instructions for creating an app so does it need a two_factor app and if not how does it find the views etc?

Are you assusuming there are some mystical "this is what everyone does with a github repository so we don't need to tell you to do this" process?

Your example app goes to a does not exist page.

The installation documentation is only a guide for enabling two factor authentication, it doesn't cover how to get started with Django's authentication module.

This tutorial on MDN might be more helpful if you're just getting started: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Learn_web_development/Extensions/Server-side/Django (in particular part 8). Then there's Django's own getting started tutorial: https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/5.2/intro/

It should also be noted that Django doesn't come with a registration/signup page - that's left to the user to create themselves.

Thanks for the reply, I do appreciate your suggestions and I may not be an expert but I can build Django sites with my own code. There just seems to be a gap in the docs about how the developer intended the code to be used. I pip install the repo so the code is somewhere in my venv and then what?

I was just tripped up by a new install as well. Django does not provide a built-in view for /accounts/profile/, so if you haven't configured a LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL you'll get a 404.

In the setup documentation the comment above LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL is "this one is optional". How about something like "can be removed if your site has an /accounts/profile/ view"?

Also, you might mention that users will need to python manage.py migrate.
