nix packages installed by mise-nix are deleted after running mole.

When I install nix packages using mise with mise-nix, everything is wonderful until I optimize my mac using Mole or CleanMyMac, which sees those mise-nix installations as junk to be deleted.

One can certainly see this as a Mole issue and not a mise-nix issue, but Mole seems to be aware of nix packages installed by nix profile. Maybe because mise-nix doesn't use a nix profile?

Hi,

I don't use such programs but I did a quick search:

1. Update Mole to the newest release (at least v1.22.1 or ne1.wer). The symlink-related fixes/safety hardening are recent.

2. When running cleaning/removal, use --dry-run first so you can see exactly what it would delete before it deletes anything. (Mole’s UI/messages emphasize this workflow.)

3. Whitelist the directories where you keep symlinks (or where symlinks point), and avoid running broad clean/uninstall with sudo unless you truly need it.

Maybe that help. Maybe it provides a message in dry about why it will delete the nix symlinks.

I vibed a solution in a fork. I do not know the quality. But instead of building the nix packages, it installs them using 'nix profile'. Since any packages installed are registered in the default profile, they are not garbage collected or disposed by mole.
