Ubuntu 26.04 - fresh install / TP-Link Archer TBE550E: Wi-Fi associates and receives DHCP IPv4 address, but no gateway/default route is installed #96

Description

@vincent71711

On Ubuntu 26.04 with kernel 7.0.0-28-generic and mediatek-mt7927-dkms version 2.13, the TP-Link Archer TBE550E successfully associates with a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, receives its reserved IPv4 address, and can reach the local gateway when traffic is forced through the Wi-Fi interface.

However, NetworkManager reports no IPv4 gateway for the Wi-Fi device and installs no routes for it. As a result, the connection appears active but cannot reach the internet. Disconnecting the temporary wired interface removes the only working default route and leaves the system offline.

Adding the Wi-Fi connected route and default route manually restores internet access immediately.

I am not certain whether this is caused by the MT7927 driver, NetworkManager, DHCP handling, or an interaction among them. I am reporting it here because it occurred immediately after installing and loading this DKMS package, and the radio/data link itself otherwise appears healthy.
