IOS stuck on “Connecting you to your meeting” Ios in React native 0.77.3

What happened?

I use react-native "0.77.3" and It also stuck on "Connecting you to your meeting" in iOS

Environment

React Native Version: 0.77.3

New Arch: Enable

Package: @jitsi/react-native-sdk : 11.6.3

Platform: Android & iOS

Device: Physical

Meeting opens on IOS on a Black screen with “Connecting you to your meeting” in React native 0.77.3

After upgrade RN project from 74 to 77.3, still can't make Jitis Work like before

I managed to resolve both a crash and the iOS “Connecting you to your meeting” issue after upgrading to jitsi-meet SDK 12.0.0.

Tested on React Native 0.77.3 — this may also apply to RN 0.78 / 0.79.

1. Crash / white screen after SDK upgrade to 12.0.0

After upgrading, the app was crashing due to Metro being unable to resolve subpath imports used by lib-jitsi-meet and @jitsi/rtcstats, for example:

• @jitsi/js-utils/browser-detection/BrowserDetection
• @jitsi/js-utils/browser-detection (directory import)

Fix

Add a custom resolveRequest in metro.config.js to redirect any
@jitsi/js-utils/... import to:

node_modules/@jitsi/js-utils/dist/

This must handle both:

• direct file imports
• directory imports (e.g. .../browser-detection/index.js)

After this, the crash / white screen was resolved.

2. iOS stuck on “Connecting you to your meeting” – CallKit

We do not use CallKit or native call integration.
However, a call-integration related flag appears to be effectively enabled by default, which was blocking the meeting from connecting on iOS on the Real Devices.

Fix

Explicitly disable call integration via meeting flags:

  'call-integration.enabled': false, // we don't use CallKit / native call integration
  // other flags here
}}

After setting 'call-integration.enabled': false, the meeting connects successfully on iOS.

Still testing, but this may help others experiencing the same “stuck on connecting” issue, especially on RN 0.78 / 0.79.
