What problem are you trying to solve?
The current moderation on Jitsi feels limiting to me and my team currently. For example, with video and screensharing disabled for all participants, they can still click "Share video" in the 3 dots menu and everyone automatically starts playing a youtube video of their choosing. I also cannot disable chat for all participants.
What solution would you like to see?
- A new permission to allow/disallow participants to send chat messages, along with the rest of the "Allow non-moderators to:" permissions.
- A new permission to allow/disallow participants to share videos. In my case, when participants share videos, a participant named "Video" joins, and there is no 3 dots or any way to remove them. There is a button called "Stop Video" but it's only available to the participant who shared it. Participants can still share videos even with screen sharing and video permissions disabled.
- Moderators should be able to also use the "Stop video" button just like the person who originally shared it, or provide moderators with another way to remove the videos shared by participants.
- A new permission to allow/disallow participants to self join to breakout rooms. Currently, participants can join break out rooms by themselves, so I think a new permission should be added to prevent them from being able to choose a breakout room and join it, and then moderators can pick which breakout room to put them in
