Open editor when filling in a message during jj new

If I want to create a new change with a custom message, I should run jj new -m "MESSAGE".

Is there a way to have the command instead open the editor? (Alternatively, is there a way to define an alias along the lines of jj new <CHANGE> && jj desc?

yes, there is with an alias which utilizes jj util exec

As a general Bash trick, independently from jj, you can always hit Ctrl-x Ctrl-e to edit the current command line with the default editor.
