Configuration Broken with Latest Homeassistant

Describe the bug

The GEM integration has stopped functioning. Clicking the configuration icon gives error:

The integration is no longer connecting to my GEM with xbee. I've tried resetting the xbee and changing settings in many different ways, but can't get it to work. The xbee is seeing the GEM data, and if I use the xbee MQTT option that works just fine.

Thanks for the report, and the logs! This integration hasn't changed in a while, and the source line that appears in the traceback for the error does not match the integration's source code. I know you made some local edits for the data throttling interval...did you touch this line by accident, maybe?

I'm currently on 2026.2.1 (one minor version behind yours) with my local installation and having no problems, but I'll upgrade soon just to double check there's not something weird going on with the latest HA itself.

Sorry, yes I did try making some changes to fix my problem. The error was originally at line 470 which I replaced but then other errors popped up. Thought I sent the logs for the original error but looks like I grabbed the wrong ones. I'm not a programmer, was just using AI to see if it was a me issue or the integration. I can revert my change and take new logs in a couple days

I redownloaded the integration with HACS to eliminate my edits, and I still can't get into the configure menu. New logs attached.

I did manage to get the integration reconnected to my GEM, but the configure menu still doesn't work, so I just had to take multiple attempts at guessing my settings until I got it right.

Ah, with that latest log I see the issue. HA changed their API in 2025.12 in a way that breaks this integration's config flow. I'll need to update to match.

I'm glad you got your setup working again. I'll keep this issue open until I can get that change made.

Hi @jkeljo Have you had a chance to look into the required changes? No pressure, of course, but I just installed my first GEM and was hoping to get it up and running with HA... I added the GEM integration only to find out that I cannot configure it.

Hi any updates on a fix? I tried to install today on 2026.4.4 and have the same issue with the config flow.

I am having this problem as well, for a few months now. Just wondering if any updates are planned or if there is a different integration available.

Been using this particular integration for years now - working great until I had a problem with the GEM units dropping wifi - and to change it to a more stable method (pushing data through Dashbox), I need to reconfig on the HA side but I cannot.

@mangler99 Until this gets fixed, what worked for me was to setup the legacy integration and then migrate to this one.
