FastMCP originated in this repo, and the 1.x version was eventually incorporated into the official SDK, at which time this repo became unmaintained and the recommendation was to use the version bundled with the official SDK. A couple months ago, there began to be sufficient interest and feature requests that looked like they would not be addressed in the official SDK, so we started working on a new version of FastMCP, which was eventually released in this repo as FastMCP 2.0. While FastMCP 1.0 is still bundled with the core SDK as the easy way to build servers, this repo is now actively developed as the home of the standalone FastMCP project. |

A few weeks back there was a notice that we should migrate to the official MCP SDK. Today I see that there is FastMCP 2.0 and it is the recommended path forward. Could you give some background on what happened, because this is rather confusing...
