MELPA build broken by missing submodules.

I'm not sure if the submodules are still relevant but el-spec seems to be missing. test-double also seems to be missing.

can we remove this dependency?

Should be fixed, can make it with melpa checked out now. I'll allow you to close in case there is anything else I need to do.
