Syncthing + Super-Prouctivity

Hey Gang!

As described in the subject line...I'm hoping I l'll be able to get Syncthing playing nice with Super-Productivity.

Seen some posts in the issues & discussions about this. Looks like the Android & Linux Desktop has the ability to pull it off.

Have any of you guys gotten this to work?

Are there any pitfalls/advise/input you can give to help make it seamlessly work?

I am using it with a laptop, two desktops, my android phone, and an android tablet. Here's how I have it set up in my settings.

The "synced_shares" directory is where I keep various Synthing directories that I choose to share between different devices.

Does it work? Well, yes, for the most part. But sometimes it gets out of sync. I have automatic backups enabled in the settings, but I've had an occasion where that's gotten out of whack too. I have as a todo looking into taking my own snapshots of super-productivity-sync.json, but I haven't done that yet. I "think" issues pop up when you close the app while time tracking is still running and it hasn't synced yet. In fact, that just happened to me a few minutes ago when I rebooted my laptop but didn't stop SP first. I got some error messages when I started it back up, but, in the end, all seemed to be ok. One time things were really out of whack and I had to use a back up from my laptop. I think I lost one task I had added.

But, for the most part, it's working. If anyone else has any tips on using SP with Syncthing, I would also be appreciative.

Sorry to resurect and old thread but if someone else runs into these issues I just wanted to add my 2 cents

I use SuperProd across Linux and Android, one Linux device mainly uses the webapp and the other uses the desktop app. The webapp doesn't have access to the local files option for sync. And the saved file names are different, the webapp syncs with sp_main.json and sp_archive.json while the other save MAIN.json and ARCHIVE.json (the webapp also nests the folders when saving to dropbox so it ends up beingsaved under Apps/super_productivity/super_productivity

I was using this flow for the Desktop and ANdroid app, Sync to local file -> Syncthing pushes change to other devices
For the webapp I needed to integrate dropbox and have it still be insync with the syncthing monitored folder

So I setup a script on the server running Syncthings (in a docker container dropbox is running outside the docker container)
We use rclone to download the dropbox files, compare modfied date to the sync folder , which evers newer takes prescedence. We copy its contents so if MAiN.json is newer than sp_main.json we copy MAIN > sp_main. But it cant be a direct copy, we need to preserve the sync setting in the json so we don't change the sync config on devices where it should remain as is. So how ever you want to extract the json (I used jq) extract it and merge it while leaving the sync key alone. Hook this script up to a cronjob that runs every X minutes and it works pretty well to sync across different app types.
