flatpack version on steam deck doesn't render some epub files

Describe the bug
flatpack version on steam deck doesn't render some epub files, sometimes the cover loads but not the content, toc is visible on the sidebar but links cannot be followed

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. open epub file
2. see nothing, except toc on the sidebar
   I even tried setting the environment variables mentioned in troubleshooting for flatpak and nvidia (nvidia fix should not be applicable on steam deck)

Expected behavior
epub file should render
