I am under the impression that a 48x48 and/or 64x64 pixel layer could be useful. Not sure if you left it out for a reason-- would be curious to know more

Microsoft apparently now recommend the favicon.ico file contain at least 16×16, 24×24, 32×32 and 64×64 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/gg491740%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

@rvonsch I've been lax in updating the project however your information is greatly appreciated and I'm going to update the sizes accordingly!
