Ross Carbonite Black - TSL Question #826

Hey all, we're new to using TSL and we setup TSL on our Rosstalks (2 of them) and set that IP to our Mac Studio that has ProPresenter and Companion on it (the one we use for all our media and production). This works fine. However, we determined we need Tally Arbiter to "combine" those sources into "one source" basically so I am excited to get started. The question I have is, on the Ross, do we even have to have TSL setup like we did or can that be disabled? It seems like Tally Arbiter doesn't require an IP or anything and can work as long as the switchers are on network, or am I confusing that? Does the switcher need to be setup to the IP of the computer with the Tally Arbiter server on it? Reason I am confused, when adding a Source for Ross devices, there is no IP setting there anymore. When reading the install documentation it says "Ross Carbonite Models This confuses me as it says you need the IP, yet there's no IP box. So I am not sure if I have to setup the Ross devices TSL to point to TallyArbiter or...what? =D Maybe I have to set TSL up to send to the IP of the Artiber server (on the main page)? I hope my question makes sense. I am new to this so I apologize if not. |

You have to know the IP because you have to configure the Ross switcher to send data to TA. In this case TA is the server and is listening for tally on the port you specify. |

Hey Joseph, are the files on releases possibly corrupt? We're on a Mac Studio, but the Mac app says it is corrupt every time we try to download. Update: Meanwhile I will put all I can here to help explain (sorry long winded): I asked previously why we need the IP address of the switcher, you said you need it to configure the switcher to send to TA. I think you misunderstood. I was talking about the SWITCHER IP - which in the documentation it says you need it. But nowhere during install or setup is there a place to put the SWITCHER IP. Here's the process we followed: Installed TA. Logged in. On the Home screen we got two IP addresses here (aside from local) and I am not sure why. We had of course 127.0.0.1, local IP, but also there were two more. One we recognized as our computer IP that TA is on, but we are not sure why there was a secong one. Any way. Then on our Switcher Consoles we setup TSL using "Serial" and we put in the IP:Port listed on the home screen in TA. Next, we added a source, chose Carbonite Solo Black. We gave it a name "Live Switcher" which I assume this can be anything. We chose Transport Type UDP. Next we added a device and called it "Cam 1" which we also assume this is just a name and doesn't have to be something sepcific. For TSL Address, We assumed this was any number we wanted to give it - and is what would be sent out by TA as the "source" that's changing. Last we clicked Edit Sources and chose the Source we made in previous step. Here on Input/Address we were not sure what to pick. I assumed this was the actual # on the Console so we put 1 (input 1, which is our camera 1). For BUS we chose ME1 since we use ME1 for everything (I don't quite understand this step) After that, nothing worked. We tried changing all sorts of things but I am sure there's just something we are not understanding....but we were lost from there. What did we miss? Do we have to do something more on the Ross units themselves or Dashboard or did we use the wrong ports or? We were shocked to find no guides anywhere for any of this. There are some videos on other things but there's never anything showing how to actually setup the switcher itself or what any of these ports, tsl address, input address and so on mean. Thanks in advance. If you are willing to talk on the phone please let me know or email me your number newyears1978 @yahoo. We're so frustrated at this point :) The only thing I can think of that might have been wrong that maybe the names or something had to match what we have in Dashboard. IE in the Input Matrix we have "Input 1" named as "Cam 1" and maybe either "Input 1" or "Cam 1" has to go in one of those boxes where we were just typing "1" One last thought I had, are there any idicators when a source is connected? I know older version the text would be green. Here there's nothing here showing connection. I do know that when I tested it at home with OBS - everything seemed to work =D But still no indicator of whether there is a connection or not that I can see? |
