Map centering offset

Feature Description

To be on par with maplibre-gl, it would be great to implement the location tracking mode.

Additionally, we could add the ability to set a custom anchor so that the user’s position isn’t fixed in the center of the screen, but can be offset (for example, 0.5 for center or 0.3 for a slightly higher position). Maplibre native already supports this on iOS, but I have no idea about web and Android platforms.

Hi @LouisRaverdy, general user location should already be possible with MapController.trackLocation.

Though, the user location functionality is currently not available on web. MapLibre GL JS has

• only very limited user location functionality (Unify User Location / Support Location on web #233)
• and can only be activated by a button press (Show user location independently of `GeolocateControl` maplibre/maplibre-gl-js#2960).

I agree, having an offset for the location marker would be a great addition!

I asked the native team for a way to achieve this on Android, since there’s a variable to implement this on iOS but not on other platforms.
