Interval/period records

Currently, records have to be associated with a particular calendar date, e.g. 2022-07-11.

An idea that came up in an e-mail conversation was to allow “interval” records, such as 2022-02 (for all of February 2022) or 2022-Q1 (for the first quarter of 2022), e.g.:

For inspiration for possible patterns, you can take a look at the “due dates” in xit (a file format for todos and check lists).

This is a bit of a wild idea, so I’m not sure it’s viable or worthwhile. It introduces significant complexity, and also brings up some questions:

• How would intervals behave when they are queried by date? E.g., is 2022-02 included in klog total --since 2022-02-04 --until 2022-02-11?
• How would day shifting behave? Would that even make sense for an interval record, or should it be forbidden there?
• It might also be a bit weird to see an entry such as 16:00-17:00 in an interval record, because it’s a specific time but it doesn’t refer to a specific date.
