Cannot create through UI of VS 17.0.4

When I create a new project at startup, I can select the Console Application (Classic) (Public Extensions) option and click Next.
On the Configure project screen I have very few options, and it is the last screen in the flow:

If I do click Create, I get an empty solution with no projects in. Adding a project to the solution later via the UI has similar results.

Creating a project through the command line does work.

Same for me in latest version of Visual Studio 2022. No file and no choice for the runtime version.

I guess MS broke or blocked this in the latest VS versions. Unfortunately I do not have the time or desire to play this cat and mouse game with them, so I guess this is broken unless someone submits a PR.

Wow... they seem deadest on making sure we have a feature we don't want.

I fixed this locally by deleting the file cache.bin out of the directory:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\17.0_4eba6165\ProjectTemplatesCache_{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

(The 17.0_4eba6165 might differ based on your version.)

The next time it brought up the New Project dialog it had to rebuild the cache and the template began working again.

Worth a shot if you're facing this issue.
