Multiple scanners - Controller is already running

Hi folks, maybe somebody here can help a newbie out: I want to use two scanners: one to scan barcodes, the second to scan QR codes. The scanners are on different screens. It is going to be a 'shopping workflow', i.e.: scan barcodes like in a supermarket, then switch screen to pay via the QR code. For the life of me I cannot get it to work. I want the user to be able to return to the barcode scanning, but I always get t"MobileScannerController is already running" when returning to the screen.

This is a minimal example I came up with:
