Run cells from script or the command line?

Using the %run command, you can run scripts from the jupyter notebook cells. Is there a way for the user to do the opposite, i.e. run jupyter notebook cells from a script, or from the command line? I cannot find the answer to this anywhere.

You can use the nbformat module to load a notebook file in Python. Then you can exec() code cell sources if you're sure they're pure Python, or if you need IPython syntax support, instantiate an InteractiveShell instance and call its run_cell() method.

For reference, in IPython, you can also %run a notebook.

Hi, im new to jupyter

when i load %run with a .py file it says: ERROR:root:File 'week4.py' not found.

but the file is saved in my machine, it worked when i upload the file, but is there a way for it to lookout up in my hard drive?

If it's not in the working directory (you can find that with %pwd in IPython, or os.getcwd()), then you'll need to use the path of the script with %run.
