Incorrect user icon in collaborative ui

Description

The icon letter assigned to the user is all the same and seems to be derived from the name of the first user connected to the server instead of the name of the correct user. The name of the user is shown correctly.

Reproduce

Connect several users to the jupyter with collaboration extension and observe the icons in the UI.

Expected behavior

The icon should have the first letter of the username in the icon.

Context

• Operating System and version: Debian 12
• Browser and version: Chromium, Firefox, Ungoogled Chromium
• JupyterLab version: 4.4.0 + 4.0.0 collab ext.

Update: my assumptions were wrong. The letter seems to be derived from some other place. When some other user logs in from the different computer, he/she gets a correct letter. Only if I log in from the same machine as a different user (from the different browser) I get the wrong letter. And it seems to be derived from my real username, not my alter ego. Regardless of the ordering of logins and who started the server.

So this is of low priority, but it still might indicate some deeper problem in this part of the code.
