Use configuration by convention over maven xml

There is some overhead in defining and maintaining the plugin configuration in the pom.xml of the webapp. Would it be possible to have the pluginloader scan preset folders automatically, removing the need for manual configuration?

Idea: Externalize plugin catalogs into separate files (maintain them outside pom.xml)
