Front-end rewrite plan layout

Hi! I would very much to contribute some code to this project, and as a front-end, and knowing there is a rewrite going on, I think it is a good entry point. However, I don't want to start throwing in lines and lines and then find I am not working on the desired direction. So I thought maybe a plan lay-off, something like a blueprint, would be of help.

I would start with a development branch only for the new front-end, and then build it bit by bit. I see that the current version on main is not styled like the deployed version. Maybe a first task in analysis, perhaps following atomic design, so that the work is broken down into more manageable chunks of layout+logic+style?
