Exclude files from Sync

I have tried to exclude a certain directory from a sync but I have not been able to figure out to do it. I see the Exclude tab in the tasks window and I input the path to the folder to exclude but it still syncs to the remote

I have looked at the pop up note in the window and thought I had the path written correctly. It looks like this:

/media/user/TERA/NEWINSTALL_fonts_bookmarks_icons_backgrounds_profiles/POWERMATE/

Is this syntax correct?

TERA is an external SSD

The syntax for excluding a directory is --exclude "/dir/**" , so you could try ... /POWERMATE/**

Noob error, still learning RClone - replying just in case anyone else makes the same mistake.
I didn't understand the syntax at first, I was using the complete file path name; it only requires the name of the folder in the directory that is being uploaded. In the exclude window I had pasted the path:

/media/user/TERA/NEWINSTALL_fonts_bookmarks_icons_backgrounds_profiles/POWERMATE/

when all that was needed was
/POWERMATE/

as your reply states :)

Checking the 'delete excluded' option also deleted the already uploaded folder
