Drop to background doesn't focus keyboard on new topmost window

Overview

After copying a username/password from KeePassXC, the focus is not autmatically on the previous window (i.e. a browser).

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open a browser with a login page.
2. Open KeePassXC window.
3. Select a username/password entry and copy it with Cmd+B/Cmd+C
4. KeePassXC window is hidden.
5. Focus is not on browser window so select the browser window.
6. Paste the value in a desired field.

Expected Behavior

1. Open a browser with a login page.
2. Open KeePassXC window.
3. Select a username/password entry and copy it with Cmd+B/Cmd+C
4. KeePassXC window is hidden.
5. Focus is automatically again on browser window. (no need to select it)
6. Paste the value in a desired field.

Do you have minimize on copy enabled or drop to background enabled?

In either case this would be a macos problem with not selecting the previous window automatically since keepassxc is clearly not in front.

@droidmonkey can KPXC explicitly tell macOS to focus the other window? If the problem is that it needs to be active itself first, then it could do that before minimizing itself. If that's not's possible, then maybe add some tooltip or smt to make the limitations clearer.

I have drop to background enabled.
Hmm I am not sure if this was a problem in one of the previous versions. But that was some time ago I am not sure which version I was using.

I'm on Windows, and the same thing happens there with drop to background.

I can even pre-seelct the previous window, then ALT + TAB to KPXC, select a value for auto type, and KPXC will minimize / drop to the background, but the formerly selected window will not become the foreground window, so I have to click on it.

With KeePass 2.xx this is not an issue. So I suspect a Qt thing.

Auto-Type is a whole different animal. That is fixed in develop branch already.

But it happens all the time - not just auto type. I can manually select and copy an entry, and if Hide window when copying to clipboard is enabled, it hides, but is still considered the selected window, so I have to re-select the window I want to paste in. That does NOT happen in KeePass.

It's why I think it is a Qt issue, because it is literally just hiding the window from view, but not treating the window as being removed from the desktop view so that another window now becomes the foreground window.

As I'm not a programmer, I can't very well explain this using the actual terms needed, so I hope this makes sense. I can make an animated GIF showing the behavior if need be.

@droidmonkey , just wondering – was it completed as "fixed" or "won't be fixed"?
I'm asking because now I have v2.7.1 and experience exactly the same issue as here in the description.

Can't be fixed? MacOS seems to have a hard time focusing windows when another is hidden programmatically. We just drop to background or minimize, the obvious behavior that the OS should perform is to provide keyboard focus to the next highest window in the stack. If the OS doesn't do that, then that is a bug on their end.

Just tested this, drop to background causes no focus on the top most window, minimize works as expected. This also seems to be broken on Windows as well so might need to look into this.
