Summary

When creating new entries that refer to another entry, the reference format uses the UUID.
To obtain the UUID, you must close the current entry and edit->properties of the target entry, copy the UUID and then resume editing of the original entry, pasting in the UUID, as required.

Examples

Additional selection in the Copy Attribute sub-menu so that when an entry is selected, you can copy the UUID without having to edit it.

Context

I have situations where my domain password is used by other software, and I like to keep the applications separate but synchronise the passwords. Change Domain, automatically changes the other application entries.

As an addition to the whole referencing thing {REF:P@I:uuid}, it would be really nice if there was a reference builder tool, rather than having to research what the P, I should be (I don't use it often enough to remember) and locating and using the UUID.
It would even be nicer if there was a right click entry option to show 'what references this entry'?
Despite the above comments, I love KeePassXC, it is my preferred password app.

You should try using the "Clone Entry" button / menu item and check the box to reference username/password from the source entry. That would prevent you having to manually copy/paste the UUID.

Clone entry is a good idea, but the problem is, I usually don't think about the whole reference idea until later, then I setup the reference.
For example, starting a new job, get blasted with new logins, simply want to get the data in, it's later, upon review, I see commonality and setup the {REF}
