Greaseweazle 4.1 no longer work with 5.25 drives but work well with 3.5 drives, Why ?

Hello, I'm no longer able to get Greaseweazle 4.1 to work with 5.25" floppy drives. It works perfectly with 3.5" drives. I was using the same 5.25" floppy drive, but I keep getting the same message: "command failed with error no index." I've tried two other drives, one of which worked with Greaseweazle before. I've also tested different cables. The 5.25" drives work on my PC. It's difficult to get this thing to work with 5.25" drives. Have you ever had this kind of problem where it stopped working but only with 5.25" drives?

Is the 5.25 drive correctly powered in the Greaseweazle setup? It will need a 12v supply for the drive motor or it won't spin up.

I connect the 5.25 drives using Power supply ATX. I connect a molex socket of the Power supply to the place provided on the drive.

OK so I had something similar. I went through a few different floppy cables before I found one that worked. I got a shorter approx 6 inch cable (no twist) to work best.

Also make sure termination is enabled on the drives. I had a couple of 5.25" drives that would not work at all, and it turned out to be this. However, my error was not index issue, but it just read nothing/trash data.

May not be the issue the original poster is having, but for me this error was caused by bad or incompatible media.

After successfully writing several SS/SD 5.25" floppies I started getting the "GetFluxStatus: No index" error. The drive activity LED would go on but the spindle would not spin. I tried three different drives, two different power supplies and three different ribbon cables with no luck, but switching to a floppy disk from a different batch worked.

I'm not an expert in floppy formats but I suspect the disks that didn't work were either 1.2M high-density disks with different indexing (all my drives only support up to 360K), or had previously been in contact with a bulk eraser and lost their factory indexes.

Since both my good and bad disks have a hub ring and brown color against a bright light (both signs of being not high density), I suspect magnetic erasure.
