package does not exist: java.util.logging with gradle and jdk11

Opening a project on Netbeans 10 using Gradle 5.2, plugin version 2.0.2 and JDK11 results in import errors for classes like java.util.logging.Logger or java.util.logging.Level on Windows 10

Is it a modular project or not? If it is not, then you have to disable modularization in the project/global properties.

it has a parent and a single child project right now.

Note for future Googlers: To disable use Project Properties dialog: Under "Java modules" I unchecked the "Allow Modules" checkbox for both Default and Global profile, and eventually it solved the problem. It took awhile before the red X beside all the files in the Projects window finally resolved, but they did eventually as I browsed the files.
