Yes it does indeed.
It depends on your device's width.
HomeRacker base units progress in a multiple of 15mm. If your device does not cleanly divide by that we need to add this left and right so it matches the lock pin holes again.
There are certain edge cases where it it matches exactly and only one base unit is used.

That makes perfect sense, but couldn't the portions over the support beam be reduced to keep the 1 base_unit constant? The inner side would no longer be a atraight line.
