Issue in adding a new item to list

I'm using kendo tree along with knockout. When I'm trying to add a new item to the list that already has at least one child, the new item is added and working fine. But if the list is empty and adding a new item, the new item is not showing as the child. Again if I refreshed the page, recently added item will working as child of the list
