There has been some initial design work: https://github.com/kgateway-dev/kgateway/blob/main/design/11192.md
And a very old draft PR for the envoy side: #11445 (Let me know if you have any interest in taking it over!)

If you're using agentgateway you can enable JWT validation for now with the ConfigMap, but our end goal is to get a shared API that can be used by both Envoy and agentgateway.
