increaseSpeed and other options

I have read everything and searched everywhere. I am obviously a novice. Can someone supply an example using the increase_Speed option. Also maybe include one that will cycle a specific amount of time then stop. I see many options but do not understand how to implement them as I get an error when compiling.

Here is an example sketch that changes the animation speed. It uses a timer to update the speed parameter every 1 second, first increasing the speed parameter until it reaches 8000, then decreasing the speed parameter until it reaches 200.

It also has a snippet of code to stop the animation after 2 minutes.
