MDCat and Kitty

I have been trying different terminals and I really like Kitty but I have found one issue that I assume is something I am doing.

If I use mdcat with kitty images are not being displayed.
Findings
If I use mdcat with wezterm images are displayed.
If I use kitty I can display a logo and using yazi I can get image previews.

So both programs seem to be working. Is there a setting in configuration I need to do?

You'd have to ask the developers of mdcat.

The project is archived and inactive, so I thought I would try here to see if anyone else had the same issue.
