To solve #8954,

I have

map cmd+p>shift+w combine | next_window | kitten hints --type word --program @ --program - | previous_window

The issue is the kitten is "not blocking", so the focus immediately goes to the original window.

Is there a way to handle this ? 🙂

No, combine executes successive actions immediately. As I said in your other discussion, use remote control for this.
