Not sure what you are asking. If you find the tab title becomes too long you will find that the custom status bar is even longer since it occupies an entire row, regardless of the size of its contents, unlike tab titles. |

So use active_tab_title_template in kitty.conf to make your active tab
longer than all the rest.

iTerm2 status bar can depend on tab specific information, for example I can show CWD, process tree, Git information, and current Python version in the status bar. Basically what people put into shell prompt, they can move it to status bar if they use iTerm2. Example: https://www.stefanjudis.com/blog/declutter-emojify-and-prettify-your-iterm2-terminal/
Is it possible to achieve something similar in Kitty? I know I can put all of them in tab title, but that makes tab title rather long.
