Image preview issue in vifm after upgrading kitty

I have been using this to preview images in vifm running in kitty:
 

 fileviewer *.bmp,*.jpg,*.jpeg,*.png,*.gif,*.xpm
    \ kitten icat --silent --transfer-mode=file --place=%pwx%ph@%pxx%py %c >/dev/tty </dev/tty %N
    \ %pc
    \ kitten icat --clear --silent >/dev/tty </dev/tty %N

 
It has been working great.

Recently I upgraded my kitty (no changes in vifm), and now the preview works for one or two images and then it starts to blink and turns black. As soon as I move the mouse it shows the preview.

I was wondering if you any opinion on what might be causing this and how to resolve this.

Upgraded from what to what on what system? If you think it is upgrade related the obvious first step is to downgrade and check if the issue persists.

From 0.35.2 to 0.44.0 on Ubuntu 24.04.
I just downgraded to 0.35.2 and the issue is not there. Upgraded back to 0.44.0 and the issue is reproduced

Issue summary: The preview works only for the first one or two images and then it blinks and turns black. You can make it to show the preview by moving your mouse.

0.35.2 is very very old, isolate which actual version it stopped working in, you can install all versions as described in https://sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/binary/

It stopped working in 0.43.0.
It works fine in 0.42.2.

Dont see anything that could cause that in the changelog. Does it still not work in nightly?

No, it doesn't work in nightly.

No clue then, sorry, you can try bisecting the commits between 0.42.2 and 0.43.0 to find the first commit where it fails that might tell us what the issue is.
