ikitty - a customized kitty config template - to get you started

I know you are superbusy but would love for you to have a go at my customized kitty config template for new/advanced users. Would highly appreciate and be honored for any input/recommendations you think could be added to make this a powerhouse template for new/advanced users which they can modify, take different pieces as inspiration, cut, copy, paste, or whatever. OR if you think it may be of benefit having available to all kitty users I'm more than happy with that as well.

Looks fine generally, couple of things I noticed in a quick once over: 1) Some of your settings are just the defaults, for example sync_to_monitor and input_delay. 2) Binding shortcuts without the ctrl+shift modifier means those shortcuts become unavailable for actual terminal programs. While this is of course fine for individual workflows, if you want your template more generally useable, you should perhaps rethink how many non ctrl+shift shortcuts you bind.

First of all thanks so much for getting back to me. Your work on kitty is simply outstanding mate.

Was thinking another way to tackle in the long run I think is implementing a leader key so common keybinds could be reused systemwide in and outside of kitty - throughout the entire desktop environment and the leader key combination combination would determine what application follows. Is this something kitty can recognise and handle.

for example if i setup a Leader then k would specify kitty and thus any keybinds that follow would be related to kitty only?

I am able to do this systemwide as I use kanata keyboard remapper and it enables these types of combinations but was wondering would I be able to integrate that with kitty as it means then the user can always reuse essentially the same keybinds for halving the screen, left side, right side, scrolling etc...

sure, why not. as long as your system passes the key to kitty you can use leader based mappings in kitty as well.

Amazing that is really cool. I think thats the way forward.

The reason why I had to mix and match and stay away from some ctrl+shift shortcuts is that alot of the default GNOME shortcuts use the ctrl+shift

I'll start working on it ASAP. So awesome. will take a while though I want to systematically go through the major universal programs that linux users use.

Alphabetize it using sort - then create sections and assign the specified leader key to those sections
for example leader then:
B - browser
D - Desktop environments
M - music
T - terminal (kitty would fit under here)
E - email clients
N - Editors (as I'm an nvim user)

you get the idea. Then I can reuse the same keybinds for similar functions etc.

Will rethink scenarios as I realise many times there may be more than one app under a specified section.

Like leader B - browser then F - firefox, C - chromium ... etc

This will definitely take some heavy planning so will need some time to flesh this out but super excited I can integrate kitty into this.
