openSUSE package specific issues

How to install:

option 1: head to https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/krop/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/x86_64/ and download the kdrive and sentry rpms and install them manually.

option 2: sudo zypper ar -p 100 -f https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/krop/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/home:krop.repo then sudo zypper in kdrive. This option will also update the package when a new snapshot is available.

I added a simple systemd user unit file with the last package update. To start kDrive automatically you can now either:

• Add a /usr/share/applications/kDrive_client.desktop symlink to ~/.config/autostart/ or use systemsettings / autostart (or your favorite desktop configuration program) and add kdrive to the list of programs started automatically)

• run systemctl --user enable infomaniak-kdrive.service

Hi @krop and many thanks for repackaging this.

So far, this is the only way I managed to run kDrive on openSUSE Tumbleweed. With the official AppImage, I see no system tray icon, despite a kDrive process starting to run: Infomaniak#785

However, I’m only able to run your version in a X11 session.
If I start kDrive on a Wayland session, my KDE Plasma desktop crashes and I’m left with a black screen (from which I can still run applications and logout).

Interestingly, my issue seems to be specific to the openSUSE package you built. The original AppImage file, while it doesn’t really work, it also doesn’t crash my desktop.

Any about what could be wrong here and how to fix it? Thank you!

P.S.: More generally, I wonder whether it would make sense for you to make a pull request and get the changes you made to make the app running on openSUSE merged upstream?

That's indeed strange, I use kdrive in a wayland session without issue.

if you have a look at coredumpctl list, what's the last entry?

can you try running old ~/.cache/{kDrive_client,plasmashell,qtshadercache*} then plasmashell --replace and finally kDrive

can you try running old ~/.cache/{kDrive_client,plasmashell,qtshadercache*} then plasmashell --replace and finally kDrive

plasmashell --replace restores my plasma desktop after the crash. Running 'kDrive' after that gives me:

And a small wayland window saying kDrive client is already running!.
However, I can't see any kDrive icon in the tray, though there seems to be an "empty space" where it should be.

If I click on this empty space, the plasmashell I started from the terminal shows:

kDrive client is already running!

That seems to be backed up by your /tmp/kDrive-logdir/20250606_2019_kDrive.log file, the first launch starts at 20:19:50 and ends at 20:19:52 and there's more logging after that goes back in time.

Can you have a look in these folders:
/etc/xdg/autostart
~/.config/autostart/

and check if there are more than one kdrive related file (if any)

kquitapp6 plasmashell && old ~/.config/{plasmashellrc,plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc} && plasmashell&

kquitapp6 plasmashell will stop plasmashell,
old ~/.config/{plasmashellrc,plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc} will make backups of your plasma settings
and plasmashell will finally restart plasma with default settings.

Alternatively you can try creating a different user to test.

Another thing you can test: QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb kDrive which should run it with xwayland

Here's one of your issues. The kdrive executable is responsible for starting kdrive_client. I suggest deleting the two desktop files in ~/.config/autostart/ then either enable the systemd service (systemctl --user enable infomaniak-kdrive.service) or copy /usr/share/applications/kDrive_client.desktop into ~/.config/autostart/

Tried either one or the other to no avail. In any case kDrive.desktop appears to get automatically recreated (but also doesn't execute anything).

No idea what that is, but I do use a complex locale as I like my system in (British) English but live in a non-English-speaking country (and have a US keyboard layout).

I honestly had big hopes for this one but alas, I get the exact same behaviour even with a brand new user: no problems on X11; plasma shell killed on Wayland.
