Update failing due dubious ownership of repository issue

Love this clock. Have been using it for quite a few years now. Thank you!

Recently, I've been unable to update at all, due to the error "fatal: detected dubious ownership in repository""

The recommendation is to add my own local aw-clock directory as a safe directory and retry, but that doesn't work at all for me. Any suggestions or is this just affecting me alone (which might indicate a misconfig on my end)
