Google Cloud Platform is now called Google Cloud

Per this article in 2022, Google Cloud Platform is now called Google Cloud.

In the project, I see references to "Google Cloud", but also to "Google Cloud Platform". Likewise, I see some instances of "GCP" outside the phrase "Cluster API Provider GCP".

1. Was it decided not to rename "Cluster API Provider GCP" to match the new brand name?
2. Is valid to open an issue saying that all instances of "Google Cloud Platform" and "GCP" outside the phrase "Cluster API Provider GCP" should be updated to say "Google Cloud"?

Appreciate any info or insight folks can provide here! 🙇

Hi @jeana-redhat.

This is interesting. I'm surprised I haven't heard about this before. I find it confusing that I can still see references to Google Cloud Platform in the console (taken from Cloud Overview):

Google's product naming here seems a bit unclear to me. Is it possible that the term Google Cloud includes other Google services outside of the Google Cloud Platform (public cloud)?

Maybe @justinsb can provide insight on this.

@salasberryfin thanks for picking this up for discussion! I also struggled to find a statement clarifying this, and part of my hope in raising it here is that there are Google folks who might be able to weigh in and help make sure things look right 🤓
