[Canada] 3G sunset – figuring out VoLTE compatibility on Pixel / AOSP phones

Why I’m opening this

Canadian operators are shuttering 3G quickly:

Any handset that still drops from LTE to WCDMA/UMTS/3G when you press Call will lose voice on Rogers next month—and on the rest soon after.

What I’m looking for

• How to verify whether a device is actually using VoLTE / VoWiFi on each Canadian carrier (test codes, logcat lines, etc.).
• Which carrier configs (MBN files / carrier-config overlays) work on Rogers, Bell, Telus, Freedom, Videotron… and which ones still need tweaking.
• Pixel-VoLTE-Patch tweaks or APN edits you had to apply.
• Tips on pulling IMS profiles from carrier builds and injecting them into vanilla Pixels.

I’ll consolidate results in a public issue so newcomers can check at a glance.

I recently applied the Shizuku-Pixel IMS patch on my phone... I am using the phone and it appears to work.

1. Pixel 4XL/Android 13 (clicked updates, as needed)
2. Rogers/Chatr
3. VoLTE was not enabled when I inserted the SIM
4. I installed Shizuku & Pixel IMS patch and followed Kyujin-cho's instructions

Pre-patch

In phone info: VoLTE was disabled and greyed-out, not IMS registered.
In SIM settings: there was no toggle switch for VoLTE.

Post-patch

In phone info: VoLTE was enabled but greyed-out, it became IMS registered.
In SIM settings: a VoLTE toggle switch was visible and enabled.

P.S.

I reflashed the phone with LineageOS 22.2 and the VoLTE settings reset to disabled. I followed the patch instructions, again, and VoLTE was re-enabled.
