White cursor after exit

If the user enters a character index and exits the program then the cursor is white:

At location GDCOL ($0287) I found $81 or $01 probably causing the cursor to become white. If you enter something it turns light blue as it should.
At COLOR ($0286) the value is correct: $0e for light blue.

Seemingly the normal IRQ interrupt at $ea31 sets GDCOL.

The routine:

• first synchronizes the color ram pointer ($f3/$f4) to PNT ($d1/$d2) using the routine at $ea24.
• At address $ea52 it loads the color value from color ram at the last position of the cursor (Y contains the column offset) and
• stores that color at GDCOL.
