Leji is an open specification for the shared context layer of AI-native teams: a versioned, repo-owned record of how a team thinks, read by people and AI agents alike, and changed through the same review gate as the code. The spec and schemas are on the 1.0 line, frozen at GA. The reference tooling ships on npm, JSR, PyPI, and the Go module proxy, with the current version on the Releases page, and leji.org reads in six languages.

Three principles run through everything here:

• Intent over instructions. Capture what things mean, what must hold, and why, instead of re-encoding imperative instructions for every tool.
• A circle, not a tier. Human-to-human, human-to-AI, and human-to-AI-to-human are first-class flows around one shared context layer. Everyone with access reads, anyone proposes, people approve.
• Mechanism over goodwill. Shared context decays by default, and nothing forces a wiki current. Leji's forcing functions are mechanical: changes ride the review gate, tooling fails on mechanical drift, freshness horizons flag what has aged.

This is the place for the questions the docs do not answer yet.

• Q&A: how would this work for our repo, our agents, our team? Bring the real setup; the answers are better for it.
• Ideas: a feature starts as a request. CONTRIBUTING.md describes the path, and ROADMAP.md states the direction requests are measured against. Requests are answered normally within 14 days.
• Show and tell: a context layer you adopted, a viewer you exported, an independent implementation. The shared fixture suite is public so anyone can test against it.
• General: everything else, including what confused you. That is useful signal.
