What is your workflow for adding images to Monbooru?

Currently I download images to my downloads folder, then I go to the uploads section, and I try to add some tags there since I'm still currently catching up with all my images. After they've been imported I deleted them from my downloads folder. I'm just wondering if there's a more effective way of doing this, because it feels a bit wrong. I get that I could set the browser to simply dump the images I download into the gallery directory, but then I don't have the chance of batch adding tags to files as easily when I use the uploads page.

So essentially we 1. use the uploads section and have to delete files manually or 2. we dump everything into the gallery and tag files by clicking on them one by one in the inbox.

Do you do it any other way? Any ideas to improve this workflow?

Most of the time I'm downloading the files directly to the gallery rather than using the upload page.

If I want to add tags to all the new images in the inbox, I'd use the "Actions..." button to apply tags to all images in the current search (which would be "inbox:true"). This works only if the inbox was already empty before adding the images however.
If the inbox was not empty beforehand, I'd use a batch add tags like you wrote in 2. or maybe add a filter like date: to filter only on images added today for instance (I'm thinking it could maybe be useful to add a date:today filter for relative dates), then apply tags on this whole search.

Another option would be maybe to create subfolders in your gallery, this way you could search only the images in the folder (by clicking on the folder in the sidebar), apply the tags to this search, and optionally move all the images from the folder to another one.

My use case particularly is when I download images that have something in common versus when it doesn't.

In the example above, I bulk downloaded a bunch of old wallpapers from an artist, each one followed the same aesthetic so I bulk tagged them as "metalheart".

Whereas here I just downloaded completely unrelated stuff. I'll have to tag each one individually. There's no way around that.

But what if the inbox could sort added items by lapses of time. I probably added all of the metalheart wallpapers within a certain threshold, at maximum a few minutes at a time. This way a "batch" is created.

By doing this, the user doesn't have to rely on having to manually select each related item if they're downloaded directly into the gallery directory, or to manually delete the files if they were ingested using the "Uploads" page. For unrelated items, they were already unrelated to begin with, there was no other option. And even then, for example, there are cases when items have some relation, but still require further tagging. Items can share 1 tag, which is useful to add during ingest, and then individually tag more thoroughly later.

This simplifies and automates the tagging during ingest time, and also how adding content in general works.

There is however the issue of some valid use case for the drag-n-drop feature of the uploads page, so another option would be to merge both. Having the drag-n-drop feature at the top, in a smaller box, and below the rest of the content in a unified inbox. Currently the "Uploads" page is the less content dense page of all, and while I'm not against some white space to provide some breathing room it doesn't exactly go along with Monbooru's general design.
