Lexicon for code snippets

I am sure many of us that find ourselves looking at this repo follow people across various socials that post code snippets.
I am prosposing something similar to Gists (clients can be built separately to display them nicely with syntax highlighting etc), and possibly integrate across socials like Bluesky to display a community.lexicon.code.snippet nicer than a typical atproto link.

I do not know if we would be duplicating work products like tangled are doing

What would we use for language IDs?

And no, code in tangled is stored in git blobs rather than atproto records, it wouldn't be duplicating what they're doing

Language IDs could potentially just be an unbounded string field. That way people can use whatever esoteric language they want without the lexicon owners constantly adding to an enum. The clients would be responsible for implementing the display logic for any given language

The catch is that you'll end up with Python, python, Python , py, CPython, Python3, Python3.12, and more.

As usual with many of our lexicons here, ideally we'd use some standard, existing, widely used ontology (or schema) instead of either making up our own or giving up altogether. For programming language classifiers, TIOBE and Trove classifiers may not be exactly it, but they're maybe close, and I bet there are even better ones out there that could fit.
