Implement a daemon (opt-in)

There are certain things that seem impossible without a daemon:

• Update folders when the system switches between light & dark. Dark mode icons #41
• Finder sidebar icons. Create a tiny icon to match the icons in the sidebar #36

I think we should avoid installing a daemon by default, but there certainly seems to be some recurring interest in this functionality.
