Guitar button not working (Rock Band)

I am using the RPCS3 emulator with the SDL. I am trying to map a guitar from Rock back, but the red fret press is not identified. On the game itself the button also does not work. The same guitar works fine on the Clone Hero and I can see all the buttons working fine on a Joystick calibration app, where both do not use the SDL.

Tested with media-libs/libsdl3-3.2.8 from gentoo and the latest rpcs3 with the original rock band guitar. I got the same result as the original. Pressing each button in order with a test program that prints events.

This is consistent with what I see in rpcs3 -- the red fret is ignored despite producing correct values everywhere but SDL3's gamepad code.

I was able to find a workaround for those who want to play Rock Band 1-3 on rpcs3 and use the guitar in SDL3. It is close to but obviously not the correct solution. Create a mapping with the following mapping assuming linux:

Then create a script with this:

SDL_GAMECONTROLLERCONFIG_FILE=/path/to/guitar_map/guitar_mapping1.txt /path/to/rpcs3/rpcs3-v0.0.35-17685-b4f453f6_linux64.AppImage

Now bind green fret to x, red fret to circle, yellow fret to square, blue fret to triangle, orange fret to L1. This results in duplicate bindings for important things but works for whatever reason.

Weirder than that working is that if I remove the environment variable, the guitar works. That means that the Default.yml file in the config can now be used instead of this environment variable solution. I could post the file if that's a better solution.
