Idea 1.
When subscribed or delegated, we should directly set the DisplayName for the shared calendar, and persist it in mongodb.
This way, we no longer need the “after/append” logic to modify the original PROPFIND response.
Not only CalDAV, the TwakeCalendar Frontend (webapp) will also get benefit, since both will receive the proper DisplayName directly from the backend.

Maybe I misunderstand sth but this is what I think: we can handle display name in our frontend (TwakeCalendar Frontend) but we cannot do that with caldav apps (thunderbird, outlook, ios, ...). Therefore if they do not set DisplayName when subscribing or delegating, it would be a problem.

The CalDAV protocol supports setting a DAV:displayname.
A quick check on the iOS Calendar app shows that it can set and update the displayname when creating or editing a calendar.
I haven’t had time to verify this on Thunderbird or Outlook, feel free to check it.
