What would you like to see?

I would love to have a Hotkey to a specific tile.
So when i hit Super-g and maybe g again it moves the active window into the tile i preconfigured in the Layout.
That way i can save two clicks.
Better would be if i could assign any hotkey to this preconfigured tile.

This extension does not have a maintainer. Can anyone help?

I like the way Tactile, a gnome extension, works. It shows a grid and you enter two letters. The tiles for the first letter gives the top-left coordinate and the second letter, the bottom right. I've updated gTile locally. So it now shows letters for each tile. Here's an example:

After pressing <Super>G, the gTile shortcut, I can press, say, A and U and the current app will tile the left-hand half of the screen.

Here's a layout with fewer tiles:

If you press the same letter twice, your app goes into that tile eg DD puts the app in the bottom right corner.

This solves another problem for me. I have 5 workspaces and want different layouts for each one. Now this one layout allows me to choose where I want the app to go.

If there are more than 26 tiles, my changes fail. I say my changes but I did them with the help of gemini and chatGPT. My files also include a fix for the monitor sleep issue.

@capo42 see if the latest release does what you want. Enable tile labels in Settings > Behaviour > Show tile labels.

Once enabled, you can press your hotkey (super-g) then press the same tile letter twice to place the active window in that tile. Choose two different letters for a bigger recangle.

Would be fantastic if you could assign the letters in the layout config.
But i think tha actual change works as well..
